Million Gallons Water Use Reduction
MT CO2 GHG Reduction
The Zero Net Energy Farms project brings together a highly qualified team of experts and organizations from the private, academic, and government sectors to operate farms with no external electricity or heat inputs. The project is designed for replication throughout the State of California.
The first ZNEF project will save roughly $800,000 in electricity per year for 1,300 acres of farming. Roughly $15 billion are spent overall on electricity for California agriculture.
The first ZNEF project will mitigate roughly 15,000 megatons of CO2 equivalent emissions annually. Roughly 288,000,000 megatons are released in California statewide.
Grid electrical generation uses a substantial amount of water and the first ZNEF project will save roughly 6 million gallons of water per year.
